batampos– An elementary school student, Fiki, 10 years old, was swept away by the current while playing at Senggiling Batu Junjung Beach, Pengudang Village, Teluk Sebong District, Bintan, Friday (24/2/2023) afternoon.

A local resident, said Iwan, the victim and his friends fished and swam using a cork.

Then, they drift away from the cork.

“One person is missing while the others are safe,” he said when contacted via WhatsApp, Friday (24/2/2023) evening.

He said, after receiving the news that the victims were washed away, the community went down to the sea to look for the victims.

“The community immediately lowered the boat looking for victims but so far they have not been found,” he said

Kades Pengudang, said Kamali, the victim and his friends were playing on the beach using a cork. At that time, they were swept away by the current and detached from the cork.

“It happened around 16.30 WIB,” he said when contacted via WhatsApp, Friday (24/2/2023) evening.

It is said that the victim was swept away by the current while his friends were safe.

He said the missing victim was around 10 years old and still in grade 4 of elementary school.

He said, people are still searching by combing the beach. The SAR team is already at the location to search for victims
“We are continuing to search the beach because of strong winds and big waves, so people don’t dare to go down to the sea,” he said. (*)
