JawaPos.com-Indonesia’s flagship lifter Ni Nengah Widiasih successfully presented gold at the powerlifting ASEAN Para Games 2022. Not only winning gold, Widi also broke records in the APG.
“For sure I am very happy, very grateful to be able to bring back the gold medal for Indonesia. I am also very grateful for the support of all Indonesian people,” said Widi after the medal presentation was quoted from NPC Indonesia.
“Of course this cannot be separated from the prayers and support of the Indonesian people so that I and the Indonesian lifter athletes can win gold on the first day. So I’m very, very grateful,” he added
This athlete from Bali does have a personal mission in APG 2022. He wants to break the ASEAN Para Games record in his own name. At the 2017 APG, Widi immediately won gold and broke the 96 kg record.
His determination to break the record materialized. While in Solo, Widi recorded a weight of 97 kg.
Actually, Widi is still trying to lift more weight. However, he failed. The second and third batch failures at the 99 kg level motivated him to train harder.
“Because in the second batch I dis, I want to repeat again in the same class. It turned out to be dis too. A little sad because the total energy is not as good as before. But grateful to still be able to defend the gold medal,” he said again
“It means after this I have to improve again in training so that in the next match I can be even better,” added Widi.
