batampos – A 16-year-old teenager was arrested by the Sekupang Police Criminal Investigation Team in the Tanjunguncang area, Batuaji. The teenager with the initials MRA was found to have stolen 10 motorbikes.
Sekupang Police Chief Kompol Yudha Surya Wardhana said this school dropout teenager was a scavenger and was secured while transacting stolen motorbikes.
“Besides MRA, we also arrested an MTH intermediary (26). From the hands of the two perpetrators, we confiscated evidence in the form of two stolen motorbikes, one Yamaha Mio and one Yamaha Vega R,” he said.
He explained that the perpetrator had been wanted by the police since last June and was a motorcycle theft specialist in the Sekupang area.
“From the examination, the perpetrators have committed 10 thefts in the Tiban area, Sekupang,” he said
Yudha explained that the modus operandi of the perpetrators was to walk around the housing estate at night. Then, the stolen motorbike was sold at a price of Rp. 500-700 thousand.
“The modus operandi was to target a motorcycle parked in front of the house. Then the motorcycle was sold,” he said
With this incident, Yudha appealed to the public to increase their vigilance. That is by adding a double lock on the motorbike when it is parked in front of the house.
“And always make sure to park in a safe and locked place,” he concluded.
For his actions, MRA was charged with Article 363 of the Criminal Code with a threat of 7 years in prison.
And the perpetrators of MTH were charged with Article 480 paragraph 1 in conjunction with Article 65 paragraph 1 of the Criminal Code with a penalty of 4 years in prison. (*)
