batampos – The Ministry of Social Affairs responded quickly to the 7.9 magnitude earthquake that hit Maluku Province and its surroundings (10/1/2023) early in the morning. Social Minister Tri Rismaharini said that immediately after the disaster, the aid delivery team sailed to the Tanimbar Islands Regency and Southwest Maluku Regency, Maluku Province.
Help brought from Service Logistics Warehouse Maluku Provincial Social Service. The total Logistics Assistance distributed to these 2 districts is Rp. 234,860,440.
“We have provided assistance there (Maluku). My team is there to bring help. That very morning (10/01) our team departed,” said the Minister of Social Affairs during a press conference at the Ministry of Social Affairs Office, Jakarta (13/1).
In the midst of extreme weather, logistical assistance was distributed to the Tanimbar Islands Regency consisting of 2 tons of rice, 20 red rolled up tents, 2 units of family tents, 10 red mattresses, 100 sheets of mattresses, 20 packages of family kitchen utensils, 20 equipment eat
In Southwest Maluku Regency, the logistical assistance distributed consisted of 2 tons of rice, 20 red rolled up tents, 2 units of family tents, 10 red mattresses, 100 mattresses, 20 packages of family kitchen utensils, 20 packages of cutlery, 30 packs of family kits, 30 packs of kids stuff, 50 red blankets, 50 packs of adult clothes, 100 packs of baby clothes and 50 packs of pads.
The distribution of logistical assistance from the Ministry of Social Affairs through the Maluku Province Social Service takes approximately 3 days by sea, especially to Southwest Maluku Regency. This is influenced by extreme weather conditions and frequent high waves
Apart from the Logistics Warehouse for the Maluku Province Social Service, aid was also encouraged from the Jayapura BBPPKS Logistics Warehouse which has now arrived in Ambon, Maluku Province.
The assistance consists of 4,000 packages of ready-to-eat meals, 1,000 packages of children’s meals, 3,000 packages of ready-to-eat side dishes, 500 packages of fried rice seasoning, 200 sheets of mattresses, 100 roll up tents, 2 units of multipurpose tents, 20 units of family tents, 1000 blankets sheets, 500 packages of baby clothes, 200 packages of adult clothes and 300 packages of Kids Ware.
This assistance will also become a buffer stock Logistics Warehouse for the Maluku Provincial Social Service for disaster preparedness.
In addition to distributing logistical assistance, the Ministry of Social Affairs Team through the Directorate of Social Protection for Victims of Natural Disasters (PSKBA) coordinated with Maluku Province Social Service Officers, Tanimbar Islands District Social Service & Southwest Maluku Social Service District Social Service, in assessing the condition of the disaster sites affected impact.< /p>
In addition, the Ministry of Social Affairs team also created Disaster Handling Posts in the disaster-affected areas. Efforts were continued by conducting assessments and data collection on the heirs of compensation recipients for families who died during the disaster.
The Ministry of Social Affairs is also conducting a study for the creation of a Social Barn. The existence of a social storage will facilitate access to assistance to the community by looking at the situation in Tanimbar Regency & Southwest Maluku Regency.

Then, 218 houses spread across 8 districts were damaged with details of 6 houses heavily damaged, 7 houses moderately damaged and 205 houses slightly damaged. There are 12 units of public facilities which were also damaged by the earthquake which has the potential for a tsunami.
In Southwest Maluku Regency, there were 4 victims with minor injuries, 138 damaged houses spread across 4 sub-districts and 9 units of public facilities were damaged. (*)
