JawaPos.com – There is something unique about seeing the electric car made by Hyundai which is being loved by the Indonesian people, namely the Ioniq 5. On average, four-wheeled cars have wipers on the front and rear to wipe water when rain.
However, the Hyundai Ioniq 5 at the rear is not equipped with a wiper, even though this is very important and is one of the supporting safety systems when it rains or gets dirty.
This can be said to be unique and different from other crossover cars or SUVs which on average have wipers on the rear windshield. If you look at the Ioniq 5 model, it can enter the SUV or crossover segment which should use wipers and this has become commonplace for consumers in Indonesia.
When asked about the absence of wipers on the rear windshield of the Hyundai Ionq 5, PT Hyundai Motors Indonesia Product Expert Bonar Pakpahan gave a technical reason. Bonar gave the reason that the Hyundai Ioniq 5 is equipped with a spoiler design that has two holes with the ability to split air.
“Airflow from the front will enter through the hole in the spoiler and down to the rear windshield. Has the task of pushing the water contained in the rear glass. So no need to use the rear wiper. Because electric cars are designed to be very efficient,” said Bonar.
Bonar added that apart from design reasons, the efficiency of electricity usage was also another reason that made the manufacturer decide to eliminate the rear wiper on the Ioniq 5.
“It’s called an electric car, it’s about how this car can be as efficient as possible. There are many ways to make a car very economical, including by using a spoiler design that can split the air, why not use the airflow to direct some of it through the rear glass,” added Bonar.
It must be admitted in the final result that the Hyundai Ioniq 5 tries to avoid the use of unnecessary components, so that the car can move more efficiently.
