batampos- Torch parade decorates the Maritime Tourism Street, Kawal, Gunung Kijang District, Bintan, Friday (29/7) night. The activity was held to welcome 1 Muharram 1444 H, starting from the courtyard of the An Nur Mosque, Gunung Kijang District.

The Acting Regent of Bintan, Roby Kurniawan, came down carrying a torch and walked hand in hand
the road to the Kawal community center building, Gunung Kijang District.

The Acting Regent of Bintan, Roby Kurniawan, said that the torch relay has become one of the traditions of the people of Bintan to welcome the Islamic new year.

In commemorating the Islamic New Year, Roby advised that this momentum be more religious and self-reflection.

“Hopefully this year we will increase our faith and piety,” said Roby.

Meanwhile, the acting sub-district head of Gunung Kijang, Indra Gunawan said, this time the torch relay was fighting for the championship title for the general and student categories.

“The award for the champion is only an encouragement and an added bonus,” said Indra.

The winner of the torch relay in the general category, 1st place at Dasa Wisma RT. 004, 2nd place in Malang Meeting Village and 3rd place in RT/RW.005/010 Kawal, while for the santri category, 1st place was TPQ At Taqwa Tanjungkapur, 2nd place was SMKN 1 Gunung Kijang and 3rd place was Pondok Pesantren Al Idris Bintan.
