Surabaya (beritajatim.com) – A total of 23 Petra Christian University (UK) Surabaya students received scholarships from the 2024 Indonesian International Student Mobility Awards (IISMA) program.
Head of the International Office or International Affairs Office (KUI) UK Petra Surabaya Elisa Christiana said, IISMA 2024 received a lot of interest from students. Even this year there has been an increase.
“Our students passed IISMA 2024 using the regular scheme. There are still several of our students who are in the process for other schemes. "Hopefully others can follow," said Elisa, Friday (19/4/2024).
These students will later receive full scholarships to study one semester as ambassadors of the Indonesian nation at foreign universities. To get this scholarship, they compete with students from all regions of Indonesia.
In 2024 alone, there will be 8,381 IISMA regular undergraduate students registered. Meanwhile, only 1,508 students were declared to have passed.
“When taking part in the IISMA program, they can take courses they are interested in, but they must be different from those taken while studying at their home university. "It's used for self-development," said Elisa.
The international university goals of the 23 IISMA UK Petra students are very diverse. There are those to the continents of Asia, North America, Europe, and even Oceania. The duration of departure depends on the schedule of the destination campus.
Alicia Cheney, an International Business Management (IBM) student, is one of the awardees. He will leave for the University of California, Davis, in the United States in early August 2024.

In this program, Alicia takes courses in General Psychology, Fundamentals of Organization Management, Introduction to Mass Communication, and Interpersonal Communication Competence.
Meanwhile, Audie Ferrell Liem Fu Wang, an English for Creative Industry (ECI) student who also passed IISMA 2024, admitted that he was very happy.
“I have been preparing since the second semester. "In fact, I have taken the fifth semester early, and of course I share with other IISMA PCU alumni," said Audie.
Audie will start studying at KTH Royal Institute of Technology, Sweden, in August 2024. Meanwhile, he is taking courses on environmental issues, including Technology and Ecosystems, Energy and Geopolitics, and Global Development and Political Ecology. [ipl/ian]
