A total solar eclipse will occur before Eid

Total Solar Eclipse

batampos – The phenomenon of a total solar eclipse will occur this year. This phenomenon occurs because the moon is parallel or in the same position as the sun and the earth. This position also causes the moon to cover the sun.

This solar eclipse is predicted to occur two days before Eid. To be precise, on Monday, April 8 2024. Reported from the website of the National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN), this event will occur in Western Europe, North America, South America, the Pacific Ocean, the Atlantic and the Arctic.

Reporting from the NASA website, this phenomenon will last longer than the solar eclipse that occurred in 2017. The total solar eclipse will last for 4 minutes 28 seconds in the northwest region of Torreón, Mexico.

Next, when the eclipse enters Texas, it is expected to last for 4 minutes 26 seconds.

The duration of more than 4 minutes will stretch north to Indiana. When the eclipse leaves the United States and prepares to enter Canada, it will last for 3 minutes 21 seconds.

NASA appealed to residents who want to watch the eclipse directly to prioritize safety first.

Especially wear special eye protection designed to see direct sunlight. Apart from that, you can also use a telescope.

Reporting from TheVerge, Head of NASA Heliophysics Research and Analysis, Patrick Koehn, said that a total solar eclipse is a rare phenomenon.

He said that humans can only witness this event twice in their lifetime. It is so rare that the phenomenon of a total solar eclipse occurs less frequently and can be witnessed again for decades to come.

On April 8 2024, the moon will be quite close to the earth and completely cover the sun. This event will not occur again for two decades until April 23, 2024.

Actually, the same phenomenon also occurred on August 21 2017. The difference between this event and the upcoming total solar eclipse is that the path of totality is narrower.

This time, the path of totality is wider because the moon is closer to the earth than in previous eclipse phenomena.

In this total solar eclipse event, residents whose areas were affected were able to directly see the natural phenomenon of explosions in the sun.

The Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) explained that this explosion occurred due to internal activity in the sun.

BMKG also added that the explosion was caused by the level of solar activity which has experienced ups and downs for 11 years and will reach its peak in 2024.

Even though experts don't yet know the exact cause, it most likely occurs because it involves magnetic forces or nuclear reactions within the sun.

Unfortunately, the phenomenon of seeing explosions on the sun can only be seen in a number of areas.

Most ideally, it can only be seen in North America, such as the United States, Mexico and Canada. Meanwhile in Indonesia, we have not been able to see the total solar eclipse directly.

The phenomenon of a total solar eclipse apparently also has an impact on the implementation of the upcoming Eid. This impact focuses on the process of observing the appearance of the crescent moon.

Quoted from Gulf News, Chairman of the United Arab Emirates Astronomical Association (UAE), Al-Jarwan, said that this total solar eclipse had an impact on the appearance of the crescent at the beginning of Shawwal.

He said that this event would complicate the process of observing the crescent moon. He also explained that the appearance of the crescent moon would coincide with a total solar eclipse.

Namely, both occur on April 8, 2024. The crescent moon that appears before midnight indicates that the moon will be visible the next day after sunset in most parts of the Islamic world.

Jarwan also said that Eid al-Fitr will fall on April 10 2024. This indicates that Muslims will fast for 30 days. (*)
