Malang City Government Continues to Vaccinate Cows to Prevent FMD

Malang (beritajatim.com) – The Malang City Agriculture and Food Security Service will vaccinate 700 cows against foot and mouth disease or FMD in the first quarter of 2024.

The Acting Mayor of Malang, Wahyu Hidayat has also carried out symbolic vaccinations at farms in the Tlogowaru area, Malang City on Monday, (26/2/2024).

"So we anticipate that once every 3 months we will be routinely injected by the Food Security Service. "Apart from vaccines, there are vitamins provided, these are free from Dispangtan," said Wahyu.

Wahyu said that the total number of cattle in the Malang City area reached 1,500 heads. Of that number, 700 of them have been injected with the PMK vaccine. The number of vaccinated cattle will continue to increase because the vaccination process is still ongoing.

"Earlier we injected one of the cows. "Now from the first quarter we have completed (vaccination) 700 cows," added Wahyu.

This vaccination is carried out from January to February. Wahyu emphasized that in Malang City there were actually no findings of foot and mouth disease. However, PMK vaccination is carried out to anticipate the spread of the virus.

“So this is in anticipation of this vaccine. There are no PMK findings yet. "In other regions the average number has increased, so we are just anticipating this so that there is no spread in Malang City," said Wahyu. (luc/ian)
