Receiving Remission for Eid al-Fitr 1445 H, Eleven Cikarang Prison Inmates Immediately Free

JABARNEWS | BEKASI – Eleven inmates or inmates of the Class II-A Cikarang Penitentiary, Bekasi Regency were immediately released after receiving special remission for Eid al-Fitr 1445 Hijriah.

Head of the West Java Regional Office of the Ministry of Law and Human Rights (Kemenkumham), Masjuno, said that the eleven inmates who were released to coincide with the momentum of Idul Fitri 1445 Hijriah were part of the 1,216 inmates at Cikarang Prison who received special remission.

"They were declared free after their prison term had expired after being subtracted from remission. "Actually, there are 16 inmates in Cikarang Prison who received special remission II (free), but five other inmates still have to undergo subsidiary prison sentences in lieu of fines," said Masjuno in Cikarang, Wednesday (11/4/2024).

He explained that granting a reduction in prison terms or remission is a form of guidance for correctional inmates.

"Our brothers and sisters must also contribute to the country, so with the relationship that has been established with mutual support, compassion and nurturing, we consider that there is a need for a policy of remission or reducing the sentence," he explained.
