Manchester City beat Brentford with Phil Foden's hat-trick

Surabaya (beritajatim.com) – Phil Foden made history by scoring his second hat-trick in the Premier League as Manchester City came back from a goal down to beat Brentford 3-1 at Gtech Community Stadium

Brentford, led by Thomas Frank, appeared charming when Neal Maupay successfully found the back of the Bees' goal thanks to a brilliant assist from Mark Flekken. Flekken, who excelled with a number of fantastic saves in the first half, made an outstanding contribution to maintain his team's lead.

However, Brentford's lead did not last long. Phil Foden managed to equalize before half-time, and he didn't stop there. Foden got his name on the scoresheet again just eight minutes after the second half started, before finally completing his spectacular hat-trick with 20 minutes remaining.

Manchester City, who this time played Kevin De Bruyne and Erling Haaland from the start, appeared dominant even though Brentford showed fierce resistance. Sergio Reguilon, a loan player from Tottenham Hotspur, also appeared in this match for Brentford.

Lagging behind by one goal did not dampen Manchester City's enthusiasm. Even though Mark Flekken repeatedly thwarted their attacks, City remained tireless in chasing goals. Finally, Foden managed to turn things around with his skill in completing opportunities.

A tight game ensued on both sides, with Brentford trying hard to find a way to equalize. However, their efforts were thwarted by Manchester City's solid defense led by Ruben Dias.

This victory brought Manchester City back to second place in the Premier League standings, ahead of Arsenal thanks to goal difference. The Premier League title looks closer for Manchester City, who are just two points behind Liverpool with a game in hand.

Meanwhile, Brentford, despite having to recognize Manchester City's superiority, remains in 15th place in the standings. They will continue their struggle by visiting Wolverhampton Wanderers headquarters on 10 February. (ian)
