batampos– In order to ease the economic burden on the community, the Batam City Government again distributed rice from the Batam Main Branch Post Office, at KCU Batam Center, on Saturday (3/2)

The first phase of CBP distribution was handed over to the community, totaling 12,670 kilograms of free rice distributed to 1,267 Beneficiary Families (KPM). Among them are 7 families in Sukajadi Village, 1,135 families in Sungaipanas Village and 126 families in Taman Baloi Village, Batamkota District.

"For those who receive this food aid, we hope it will be useful. "This is the government's effort to help the community," said Regional Secretary Jefridin.

CBP assistance is distributed through the Post Office. He hopes that this assistance will be right on target and will be able to ease the burden on people for their daily needs.

"Apart from helping residents, this CBP distribution is also an effort to control inflation," he said.

Jefridin said that the quality of the rice from CBP is medium, and the distribution of rice reserves will continue regularly for the next six months until June 2024.

"Alhamdulillah, the 10 kg of rice handed over today to the community is free. Apart from that, the quality is also good. "Thank you to Bulog and PT Pos who have helped the government in distributing this rice," he said.

He admitted that as a non-producing area, food security in Batam City is very dependent on other areas. So this assistance can provide relief, as well as a form of government intervention in controlling the price of rice in the market.

“Prices in Batam depend on the producing area. If the harvest fails the price will be high. However, if the condition is good, the price is standard, and can be controlled. "So that inflation is maintained," he said.

This rice is aid from the central government, the regional government only helps distribute it to the community through Perum Bulog Batam.

“This program will continue to run. "We hope that this intervention can maintain food security in Batam as well," concluded Jefridin. (*)
