Acting Mayor of Bekasi and Dozens of ASN Violate Campaign Rules, This is the Step of West Java Bawaslu

JABARNEWS │ BANDUNG – Election Supervisory Body (Bawaslu) West Java ( West Java) confirmed that there were campaign violations committed by the Acting Mayor of Bekasi, Raden Gani Muhamad, along with dozens of State Civil Apparatus (ASN).

Bawaslu Jabar said that the ASNs were proven to have committed campaign violations by posing showing off sports jerseys with back number 2, in support of candidate pair number 2 , Prabowo Subianto and Gibran Rakabuming Raka.

This was stated in an official letter issued by Bawaslu West Java with number 001/K/LP/PP/Prov/13.00.1 /2024.

In this letter, the West Java Bawaslu corrected the decision letter previously issued by the Bekasi City Bawaslu which stated that there were no violations in this case.

"Correcting the Handling of Violations Report Number: 015/LP/PL/Kota/13.03/1/2024 Dated January 2 2024 carried out by Bawaslu Bekasi City and issuing a letter of recommendation on the results of the correction registered with Number: 001/K/LP /PP/Prov/13.00/1/2024," reads the letter seen on Tuesday (6/2).

As a follow-up, the West Java Bawaslu has sent a letter of recommendation which was copied to the Minister of Home Affairs and the Head of the State Civil Service Agency (BKN), to follow up on this violation.

Muamarullah, Coordinator of the Public Relations, Data and Information Division of the West Java Bawaslu, confirmed that his party had made corrections to the decision of the Bekasi City Bawaslu.

"So the Bekasi City decision was corrected through the authority of the provincial Bawaslu. "Well, the results of the study carried out by the provincial Bawaslu showed violations," he said.

Muamarullah also stated that his party had sent a letter of recommendation to the relevant agency so that five people who were proven to have violated the campaign rules could be given guidance.

Even though he did not specify their names, Muamarullah emphasized that more detailed information regarding this case would be provided soon.

In this case, 13 people were reported for showing off the number 2 jersey, including the Acting Mayor of Bekasi, the head of the Bekasi City BJB Bank branch, the Head of Satpol PP, and 10 sub-district heads in Bekasi City.

This action is considered as support for candidate pair number 2, Prabowo Subianto and Gibran Rakabuming Raka, who violated ASN neutrality rules in the campaign. (red)
