Monkey commotion steals eggs from Kerek Ngawi residents, not yet caught

Ngawi (beritajatim.com) – A large male monkey shocked the residents of Kerek Village, Ngawi District/Regency on Sunday (18/02/ 2024). These monkeys often destroy crops and steal chicken eggs from residents.

Residents are worried because the monkey looks angry and seems to want to attack when approached. What's more scary is that the monkeys will attack the children.

According to residents, the monkey has appeared since the last month. It is suspected that the monkeys came from bamboo gardens around the settlement.

''We're worried, sometimes we steal fruit, and we also steal eggs from people's livestock. "I'm afraid that if I go berserk and attack people or children," said Sulasmi, a local resident.

Not only Sulasmi, Harti, a local resident also complained about the presence of the monkey. According to him, the monkey has often visited residential areas in the last month.

Disturbed residents finally reported this incident to the Ngawi Regency Fire Department Office. Firefighters and volunteers are trying to find a male monkey hiding in a bamboo garden.

‘’To lure the monkeys out, we used pet monkeys. However, the lack of equipment makes it difficult to catch monkeys," explained Ngawi Fire Department Officer Herry Kuncoro Jati.

Officers will then coordinate with BBKSDA in Madiun to catch the male monkey that is disturbing the residents. [fiq/but]
