Bank Indonesia Officially Issues IDR 1.0 Money, These Are the Facts

JABARNEWS │ BANDUNG – Social media has been abuzz again with video uploads on Instagram claiming that Bank Indonesia (BI) has officially issued new denominations worth IDR 1.0.

In the video, you can see a note with a nominal value of Rp. 1.0 with the narrative "New money 1.0? Bank Indonesia officially issues new money. Then the new money is in one hundred thousand denominations."

However, quoted from the page turnbackhoax.co .id, this claim was proven to be untrue. Head of the BI Money Management Department, Marlison Hakim, emphasized that the video was hoax aka fake news.

Marlison explained that the last money issued by BI was the 2022 emission rupiah. This emission includes banknotes worth IDR 100 thousand, IDR 50 thousand, IDR 20 thousand, IDR 10 thousand, and notes worth IDR 5,000, IDR 2,000 and IDR 1 ,000.

Marlison also appealed to the public to remain alert to similar hoaxes circulating in society.

The spread of false information can cause confusion and harm to society. Therefore, it is important to always verify information before sharing it further.

With clarification from BI, it is hoped that the public will be more critical and wiser in responding to information circulating on social media.
