batampos – The Barelang Police Narcotics Investigation Unit succeeded in thwarting the smuggling of ecstasy and crystal methamphetamine. The total evidence seized was 3,616 ecstasy pills and 4.54 kilograms of crystal methamphetamine.

Barelang Police Chief, Kombes Nugroho Tri Nuryanto, said that this disclosure was carried out in 3 locations, namely Batam and Tembilahan, and Bengkalis. The total number of suspects arrested was 3 people.

“The initial disclosure was made on January 1. "We are carrying out developments and arresting the other 2 perpetrators," he said.

This disclosure began with the arrest of the suspect MA in the Naogya area, Batu Ampar. From his possession, the police confiscated thousands of ecstasy pills.

Then the suspect EF was arrested in Tembilahan and RA in Bengkalis with evidence of 5 packages of methamphetamine.

“Ecstasy and crystal methamphetamine come from Malaysia. "The plan is to bring the crystal methamphetamine to Jakarta," said Nugroho.

Nugroho added that the three perpetrators were part of an international drug syndicate. They work or are paid by big bookies who are Jakarta residents.

"This is still being developed by the bookie," he stressed.

In addition to the bust, the Barelang Police Narcotics Unit also destroyed evidence of 2 kilograms of cocaine, 3.9 kilograms of crystal methamphetamine and 324.2 grams of marijuana.

This destruction is in accordance with Batam District Attorney's Decree Number: SK – 5750L / L.10.11.3 / Enz.1 / 12 / 2023 dated 19 December 2023.
