According to him, the emergence of the polio virus is probably due to insufficient immunization and coverage. Because, the previous year the Government focused on vaccination for the Covid-19 Pandemic.

“In fact, since 2014, Indonesia has been eradicated free from polio, apparently now it has even been discovered. "Even though the target is 2026, all of Indonesia will be polio-free," he said.

Atikoh explained that the government and related parties must educate the public regarding Polio immunization.

"There must be education related to (Immunization) first, for prevention, immunization is the only way, for children because children under the age of five are vulnerable ," he explained.

"Immunization must be really complete, five times six times for boosters," he added.

Atikoh also conveyed the promise of the Ganjar-Mahfud program to solve health problems including the problem of polio immunization, one of which is strengthening one village and one health center.

“First, strengthen one village, one health facility, one health worker, then posyandu, it is from by for the people, so this is truly community-based and Mahfud's reward program provides incentives to posyandu cadres," he said.

“There are more than 330,000 thousand Posyandu in Indonesia, with a cadre of 1.5 million. "Of course it is not difficult for the country, if we really want to produce a superior generation by means of all citizens being strong, all citizens being healthy," he concluded. [asg/ian]
