batampos – The Batam City Transportation Department (Dishub) has opened a service counter for people who want to arrange subscription parking, after the 100 percent increase in parking rates. Head of Batam Transportation Agency, Salim, explained that vehicle owners who want to take part in this subscription parking program can come directly to the Batam Transportation Agency Office.

For owners of two-wheeled vehicles (motorbikes) they will be charged a subscription parking fee of IDR 250 thousand per year, while for four-wheeled vehicles IDR 600 thousand per year.

“Stickers are in the process of ordering. "We hope that it will be ready in two weeks, so that people who object to paying for daily parking can choose to subscribe," said Salim, (8/2).

This sticker is designed with a special barcode or hologram, making it difficult to duplicate. His party asked for time to perfect and complete the process of providing parking facilities and infrastructure.

“This is an option, right? "So people can choose to subscribe or pay daily as usual," he said.

If there are people who are interested, they can apply directly to the Batam Transportation Agency Office. In the first stage, the plan is to print 500 stickers for motorbikes, 1,000 stickers for cars.

"We also see that if there is a lot of public interest and enthusiasm, we will educate about jukir and socialize these stickers. "If there are motorists with this special sticker, they cannot collect it, because they have already subscribed and have been paid for the next year," he said.

Salim said that to monitor the operation of this subscription or sticker parking system, a special team will be formed to supervise it. Because it is very important, people's comfort, when they subscribe to this. "Don't collect it again," said Salim.

Regarding the suggestion from the Batam City DPRD regarding opening service counters in shopping centers or others, according to Salim, this could be done, as time goes by, it will be opened at the Transportation Agency Office first.

Nevertheless, the party must also explain that this sticker is included in the parking fee. Meanwhile, for malls, airports or places that use special parking, this is a tax.

"So even though they have subscribed, they still have to pay parking tax when entering the special parking area. This is also what we have to educate.
