Wow! 11 Rohingya Refugees Found Dead in Aceh, Suspected of Drowning

JABARNEWS | BANDUNG – A total of 11 Rohingya refugees were found dead, suspected of drowning in the waters of western Aceh Province.

Acting Head of the Non-Inspection Immigration Office (TPI) Meulaboh Jamaluddin said that the victims were found in several separate locations in Aceh Jaya Regency and West Aceh Regency, from 23 to 25 March 2024.

"10 victims were men and 1 victim was a woman," said Jamaluddin, quoted by JabarNews.com from Suara.com, Wednesday (27/3/2024).

He explained that the 10 bodies were buried in Keutapang Village, Krueng Sabee District, Aceh Jaya Regency.

Meanwhile, another body was buried in Suak Indrapuri Village, Johan Pahlawan District, Meulaboh, West Aceh Regency.

"The entire funeral procession for the victims was carried out by a number of related parties in each regional government," he explained.

Currently there are still Rohingya refugees who were previously found floating in the waters of West Aceh Regency.

They were temporarily accommodated at the Indonesian Red Cross (PMI) Building, West Aceh Regency in the Suak Nie area, Johan Pahlawan District, Meulaboh. (Ed)
