In one day, the East Coast of Taiwan was shaken by 240 aftershocks

batampos – Taiwan's east coast was rocked by more than 240 earthquakes during the day, with the largest measuring 6.3 magnitude, according to data from the Central Weather Bureau (CWB) on Tuesday.

247 earthquakes were recorded in Hualien County from 15:08 local time on Monday to 13:30 on Tuesday, according to the bureau's data.

The shaking and aftershocks that have hit Taiwan since the devastating earthquake on April 3 have reached 1,095, the CWB said.

On April 3, a 7.3-magnitude earthquake occurred off the coast of Taiwan, the strongest to hit the region in 25 years, said CWB Seismology Center director Wu Chien-fu.

At least 12 people died and 821 others were injured as a result of the earthquake, media reported. (*)
