This is the reason the Sukabumi Regency Government did not repair residents' houses damaged by the flood

JABARNEWS | SUKABUMI – The Sukabumi Regency Government (Pemkab) stated that it would not repair the houses and shops of residents affected by the high waves or tidal waves that hit the Palabuhanratu coastal area on Tuesday (11/3/2024).

Kalak Sukabumi Regency Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) Deden Sumpena said that the Sukabumi Regency Government only provided food assistance in the form of basic necessities, blankets and mattresses.

"All the data recorded, P2BK has reported that in the capital area of Sukabumi Regency there are three villages, Citepus, Palabuhanratu Village, and Jayanti. "We have looked there, monitored it too, but that is the coastal border area, yes, for assistance (repairs) that (process) is very difficult because of the coastal border space," said Deden, quoted by JabarNews.com from detikJabar, Sunday (17/3/2024 ).

He explained that in the Cipatuguran area, residents living in that location had been relocated. But for whatever reason, they then returned to the coastal border area.

"Those in Cipatuguran were relocated but they returned there, because the radius of 50 meters is less than 250 meters from the beach," he explained.

"While we are trying to provide (assistance) because they are fasting and their business is at the accommodation stalls, we are coordinating with the Social Service for basic necessities. "BPBD, through the sub-district, has also sent basic food packages, then blankets and mattresses, some of which we have done for emergencies," he added.

Deden said this would be very difficult because the position of the affected victims was in the border area.

"Because the conditions must be your own land, this is exactly the same as when the government helps rutilahu, it must be owned land or a grant and so on. The difficulty is because they are mostly located along the coast. "We've been warned and relocated but we're back there, that's the problem," he stressed. (Ed)
